Meet the Directors

Mrs. Julie Daniels - Orchestra Director

 

Mrs. Julie Daniels graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor's in Music Education. While at OU, she studied Violin performance with Mr. Michael Ma and the art of Cello with Mrs. Marjorie Cornelius. Throughout her career as a Music Educator, she has taught Elementary Music, Elementary Strings, Middle School Orchestra, and High School Orchestra.   In 2002, Mrs. Daniels moved to Frisco, Texas, to build an Orchestra program for Frisco ISD. She is currently the Director of Orchestras at Frisco High School. Mrs. Daniels is also the Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra for the Greater North Texas Youth Orchestra, a Violinist with the Stonebriar Community Church Orchestra, private instructor and adjudicator. She is also an active supporter of the Arts in Frisco and McKinney and enjoys sharing her love of music through performance!

Mr. Jeff Walters - Director of Harp Studies

 

Jeff Walters studied harp with Professor Gayle Barrington at the University of Texas at Austin, where he received his degree in Music Theory; he was a member of the Longhorn Band, the UT Harp Ensemble, and the UT Orchestra, where he won the UT Concerto Competition, playing the Debussy Danses. ​ He has worked regularly with the Abilene Symphony, the Laredo Symphony, the San Antonio Symphony, the Mid-Texas Symphony, the Fort Worth Symphony, the Las Colinas/Garland/Arlington Symphony, and the Dallas Symphony. ​Having performed extensively as a jazz harpist at Austin-area and Dallas-area hotels, restaurants, and music venues, Jeff was the first-place winner at the Lyon & Healy International Jazz Harp Competition in Boston, Massachusetts. He has taught with the Frisco ISD Harp Program for ten years.
